A haven for outdoor recreation, Ogden is positioned right at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. The mountain range allows for many athletic pursuits, including rock climbing, mountain biking and camping. The other nearby ski areas of Powder Mountain and Wolf Mountain are also immensely popular ski destinations. The Eccles Dinosaur Park, with its many animatronic dinosaurs is a huge draw for families with curious children. Originally founded as a railroad hub in 1846, the city has a number of vintage buildings and history museums, such as the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum and the Browning Firearms Museum, which explore various aspects of the region's past.
