Fort Buenaventura was originally built in 1840 by famous trapper Miles Goodyear. The fort was the first American settlement in the Great Basin. Today, the interior of the fort has been recreated to look as it once did, and features tourable stockades and cabins. The fort is located west of the city center, adjacent to Miles Goodyear Park.
